The school data used by LiveBy for the United States is sourced directly from the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) website at https://nces.ed.gov/, while the cartographic boundary files are obtained from the Census Bureau website at census.gov. We use these identifiers to determine what school districts should be displayed for a specific community.
Our Canadian school data comes from Statistics Canada.
As a result, LiveBy has decided to retain this valuable school data in our product, but we are willing to include more schools if necessary.
Schools displayed for a community are based on the school attendance area boundary and its overlap with the community’s boundary. If a community overlaps with more than one school attendance area, both will be displayed.
If the school does not have an attendance area boundary, but its coordinates are inside the community boundary, it will be displayed.
